On Thursday, Disney announced the details on its highly anticipated video streaming service, Disney+, which is expected to be released on November 12. Disney+ has been promised to include everything Disney-related, from Disney originals to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It will also include stuff from 20th Century Fox, which the Hollywood studio acquired just recently.

Although the new service is to debut in the United States, the company said it “plans to be in nearly all major regions of the world within the next two years.” As announced, the service will cost $6.99 per month, almost 22% less than Netflix’s basic subscription plan. Users may also avail the yearly plan for $69.99, which comes out to a discounted rate of $5.83 per month.

Along with this, the company has also revealed brand new shows which will be available on the same day. Titles such as The Mandalorian, set in the Star Wars universe, and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and WandaVision, which are both included in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will begin airing at the time of the launch.

According to Disney, users will be able to rediscover around, if not more than, 7,500 episodes and 500 films from its library in the service’s first year after the launch.

CEO Bob Iger said during Thursday’s announcement, “Today’s presentation will show you where we’re going, but also remind you that we are starting from a position of strength and optimism.”

“The app will, in all likelihood, be available through traditional app distributors, Apple being one of them,” he added.

Apple has also revealed its own video streaming service last month; however, prices have remained unannounced ever since.

About $1 billion in 2020 on original content for the platform and $2 billion by 2024 is expected to be spent for this endeavor, according to Disney, and the company is forecasting to have between 60 million and 90 million subscribers by the end of 2024.
