YouTube Unveils its Latest Music Streaming Service
YouTube announced on Wednesday its latest music streaming service,
YouTube Music, which will be launching next week. The video streaming company
also said that it would soon unveil a premium service that will charge more for
its original shows.
YouTube Music will have a new feature like personalized playlists
based on the YouTube history of the user, the company explained.
Meanwhile, YouTube will also launch the revamped of its
subscription service, YouTube Red. The company has rebranded the subscription
service to YouTube Premium.
It will launch initially in Australia, United States, New Zealand,
South Korea, and Mexico. However, the service will be expanded to 14 additional
countries in the coming weeks.
According to YouTube, the latest version of YouTube Music will be
free for everyone, while the paid membership with no advertisement, YouTube
Premium, will be available for only $9.99 a month.
An executive of the company, T. Jay Fowler, said that the revamped
YouTube Music is a “deeply personalized experience.” Google Assistant will make
a listening recommendations based on the time of the day, your location, and
your listening patterns.
Fowler also stated that the YouTube Music would have both “an
audio experience and a video experience.”
Meanwhile, the video streaming company is planning to charge and
additional $2 for its premium service, which include YouTube Music and YouTube’s
original shows.
The YouTube Premium will now be available for the price of $11.99
for all the new members. Meanwhile, for the existing YouTube Red members, the
current price will continue for YouTube Premium.
“YouTube Premium includes ad-free, background and offline across
all of YouTube, as well as access to all YouTube Originals including Cobra Kai,
Step Up: High Water and Youth & Consequences,” the company stated.
YouTube to Put Song Credits on Videos
YouTube has also made a huge step in terms of music credits on its
platform. The video streaming company added a new feature called “music in this
video.”
This new feature will credit the artist, songwriter, label, and
the publisher of the songs that were used in more than half a billion videos.
The information, which you can see on the “Show More” button, will
be available for both premium music videos and on user-generated content
uploaded by fans.
In addition to that, the data can also point users at the official
channel of the artists and their music videos.
