Walmart and Lord & Taylor to Launch New Website Feature

Walmart and Lord & Taylor are preparing to roll out a new shopping experience on Walmart’s website.

The website is set to launch in the coming weeks, the new feature on Walmart’s website will include more than 125 brands sold at Lord & Taylor, such as Tommy Bahama, Vince Camuto, and Lucky Brand.

The two retailers announced their partnership November last year.

Meanwhile, both of the retailer companies are hoping to see a boost in the sales from the unique tie-up for different reasons.

Walmart is competing with is rival, Amazon, which is composed to become the number 1 apparel retailer in the U.S. later in 2018. The retailer giant also said that it is aiming to increase its selection of clothing beyond every day, low-priced item, to include more high-end clothing from some well-know, designers.

According to Denise Incandela, the head of fashion for Walmart’s U.S. e-commerce business, consumers are actively browsing the website of Walmart for premium fashion brands. However, there hasn’t been much premium brands on the platform, up until today.

Lord & Taylor, on the other hand, is facing a lot of obstacles that the U.S. department stores are grappling right now. The company needs to cut some costs and look for ways to win sales from online consumers.

It has been reported recently that Hudson’s Bay is finding ways to revive Lord & Taylor and to “reform the business.” The department chain just announced that it would be selling its flagship in Hudson’s Bay, as the company reshapes the other parts of its business.

“This relationship is a major milestone for us. ... This is an example of how we are thinking differently and innovating,” the senior vice president of Lord & Taylor’s digital division, stated about Walmart.

However, both Walmart and Lord & Taylor did not give any comment about the revenue structure of their partnership.

Meanwhile, Incandela said that the brands of Lord & Taylor will not be available in stores, it would only be available on Walmart’s website.
